Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science and Engineering

Elsa Rousseau obtained her Engineering degree in Bioinformatics and modeling from INSA Lyon, and her Ph.D. in modeling the epidemiology and evolution of plant viruses from the University of Nice, Sophia Antipolis, France. She completed her first post-doctorate at IBM, in their renowned Almaden research center in San Jose, California, in collaboration with UCSF. Her research work focused on the use of defective interfering viral particles as a new type of antiviral treatment. She completed a second post-doctorate in the laboratory of Jacques Corbeil at the Research Center of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval, in co-direction with François Laviolette, broadening her skills in bioinformatics by integrating artificial intelligence.

She has been a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Université Laval, collaborating with the Nutrition, Health and Society Center (NUTRISS), since 2021. Her research program focuses on the study of the interrelationships between microbiota, bacteriophages and nutrition, through the development of artificial intelligence approaches to determine their impacts on cardiometabolic health.l’Université Laval, rattachée au Centre Nutrition, Santé et Société (NUTRISS), depuis 2021. Son programme de recherche porte sur l’étude des interrelations entre le microbiote, les bactériophages et la nutrition, via l’élaboration d’approches en intelligence artificielle pour déterminer leurs impacts sur la santé cardiométabolique.
